By Unexhibited

Vol. 25 · No. 3March - 1929pp. 71English

Summary

The suggestions propose allocating funds totaling Rs. 2400 annually to support Jainism-related initiatives. First, the unpublished works of the late Mr. Jaini should be prioritized for publication. From the total funds, Rs. 300 each year is allocated to the Jain Literature Society (London) and the Mahavira Jain Brotherhood (London). An additional Rs. 300 (minimum) is designated for the Jaina Gazette, emphasizing its founding and editorial role by Mr. Jaini, its role in preserving Jainism, and its financial needs. The remaining Rs. 1500 is divided: Rs. 300 for free distribution of leaflets and pamphlets on Jainism, and Rs. 1200 for publishing one volume of Jaina literature annually. The volumes should be sold at cost price to align with Mr. Jaini’s intent. Standard works on Jain philosophy and history should be published in chronological order, starting with those of Sri Kundakunda Acharya and Sri Umaswami. The recommendations aim to honor Mr. Jaini’s wishes for preserving and propagating Jainism globally.

Conclusion

These suggestions prioritize the preservation and global dissemination of Jainism, aligning closely with Mr. Jaini's vision. By proposing the publication of his unpublished works first, we ensure his scholarly contributions are preserved and shared. Allocating funds to the Jain Literature Society, Mahavira Jain Brotherhood, and the Jaina Gazette supports institutions central to Jainism's propagation, with specific financial allocations addressing critical needs like the Gazette's financial shortfall. Free distribution of leaflets and annual volumes ensures accessibility, while selling standard works at cost price maximizes reach. Prioritizing chronological publication of key texts, starting with Sri Kundakunda Acharya and Sri Umaswami, maintains historical and philosophical coherence. These measures collectively uphold Mr. Jaini's legacy, fostering Jainism's growth and global understanding.
