Summary

The 87th annual session of the Shwetambar Terapanthi Mahasabha was held on January 30, 2001, in Gangashahar. The meeting was chaired by Mahasabha President Shri Bhanwarlal Daga. After welcoming members, General Secretary Shri Bhanwarlal Singh presented the annual report. The report expressed reverence and gratitude towards Acharya Shri Mahapragyaji, Yuvacharya Shri Mahashramanji, and Sadhvipramukhashri Kanakprabhaji for their continuous guidance. The session, held annually during the Maryada Mahotsav, was considered especially significant because Gangashahar has become a sacred site as the final resting place of Acharya Shri Tulsi. The session took place immediately after the dedication of his memorial, giving it unique importance. The hope was expressed that Acharya Shri Tulsi's grand memorial would serve as a "powerhouse of morality" and an inspiration for society, a sentiment echoed by Acharya Shri Mahapragyaji. The report noted the passing of the long-term, divine ascetic Sadhvi Pannaji and paid tribute to all those who had completed their spiritual journey. Tributes were also offered to departed community workers and dignitaries. The services of Himmatlalji Parmar, the national in-charge of the Gyanashala, were remembered. A proposal was presented to strengthen the organization by affiliating local assemblies working in various regions with the Mahasabha. It was decided that all local assemblies must formally affiliate with the Mahasabha by March 31, 2001; those remaining unaffiliated would lose their federal recognition. According to the report, 305 local assemblies across the country had already been affiliated. Through the efforts of representative Shri Surendra Pura, approximately 480 new lifetime members were enrolled, bringing the total to 2,421. The report stated that a list of all assembly buildings and trusts across the country was being prepared, along with a "Building Code of Conduct."
