Summary

A king named Mohsin ruled a prosperous and just kingdom. After his death, his son Udarsingh inherited the throne. Despite his name meaning "generous lion," Udarsingh was cruel and greedy, with a particular obsession for gold. He dismissed all his father's honest officials and replaced them with sycophants who exploited the people. One night, Udarsingh dreamed that his entire palace was made of gold. He became determined to make this dream a reality. His wise queen, Meenal, tried to reason with him, explaining that such a feat was impossible and that his greed was ruining the kingdom. Enraged, Udarsingh rejected her advice. A tantric, hearing of the king's obsession, offered to turn mud into gold using black magic, but demanded the sacrifice of five virgin girls and various animals. The king, blinded by greed, agreed. When Queen Meenal learned of this, she bravely confronted her husband, calling him mad and arguing that if the tantric could truly make gold, he would have done so for himself. The king, in a fit of rage, ordered her execution. Before the order could be carried out, Meenal's brother, Madhup Singh, arrived with his army. He arrested Udarsingh and the tantric. In court, the tantric confessed his fraud. Madhup Singh declared that gold is made through truth and hard work, not magic. Meenal, showing compassion, asked to care for her husband, believing she could reform him through love and good conduct. Madhup Singh agreed. Through Meenal's devoted care, Udarsingh eventually recovered from his madness and learned the true value of gold as a symbol of truth, non-violence, and compassion.
