Summary

Two children, Atul and Sujata, decide to embark on a secret bicycle trip to Mumbai after learning their uncle is planning a cycling tour across the country. They prepare by packing bags with clothes, books, drawing materials, a torch, lamp, bell, and a horn, but remove heavy items like extra utensils. They plan to leave after an evening event called "Balakanji Bari" without returning home. When other children return from the event, Atul and Sujata are missing. Their family panics and searches for them. Meanwhile, the children ride their tricycles out of town, laughing as darkness falls. They become frightened in a dense, silent forest, mistaking trees for ghosts and bushes for bears. They decide to turn back but lose their way. Terrified, they abandon their cycles and huddle under a tree. Suddenly, a loud noise startles birds, and they see glowing ember-like eyes approaching. A wild boar runs past, causing them to fall. Their fall activates the horn in one of the bags, which blasts loudly. The glowing eyes retreat. Atul realizes the horn scares the animals and begins blowing it repeatedly. Sujata suggests using the torch, and they alternate between light and sound to keep predators at bay. They identify the animals as wolves. The children continue using the horn, bell, torch, and lamp to create noise and light, successfully driving the wolves away. They feel a surge of confidence. Soon, they see a bright light approaching. It is a motor vehicle carrying their father, uncle, and two policemen, who had been searching for them. The children are overjoyed and safe. Their family praises their courage. Before returning home, they are advised to travel only with their uncle in the future.
