जपात् सिद्धि न संशयम्

Vol. 52 · No. 01January - 2004pp. 43-44Hindi

Summary

The text defines mantra as a form of knowledge and science from which power originates, serving as light to dispel ignorance and darkness. It describes mantra as a specific combination of letters, derived from the concept of secret speech and contemplation. Through meditation, ordinary matters become extraordinary, and tasks unachievable through effort can be accomplished through mental resolve. This forms the basis for influential speech and thought, termed speech-science and thought-science. Mantra recitation is presented as a complete yogic and scientific method that awakens the power of sound, leading to liberation. The subtle body contains dormant yogic centers, consciousness centers, glands, and chakras, which are activated through mantra recitation, revealing vast divine power. Mantra practice is essential for spiritual progress. Patanjali's Yoga Sutras state that accomplishments are achieved through water, herbs, mantra recitation, and meditation. Mantra recitation focuses scattered mental energies, paving the way for subtle powers. Mantras relate to subtle sound waves, which possess power akin to electricity, fulfilling their intended purpose. Thus, mantra recitation is said to bring success without doubt, yielding both spiritual and material benefits. Historically, mantra power was used to destroy demonic forces, develop character, increase mental strength, sharpen intellect, and achieve material gains like wealth, health, protection from calamities, longevity, and defense against enemies. In ancient times, mantras were considered a primary power in weapons, with divine and fiery weapons being consecrated. Mantras could ignite flames in enemy armies or summon rain to extinguish fires. However, due to the complexity of mantra practice, this ancient knowledge has been neglected, as the current age lacks the necessary environment, social conditions, and pure materials. Practitioners also avoid effort, though perseverance is crucial. Key requirements for mantra practice include purity of pronunciation, pure conduct, and a gentle, deceit-free demeanor. Impure individuals see little effect. Proper diet, consisting of beneficial, moderate, and sattvic food, is necessary, as those who eat forbidden or excessive food or consume intoxicants

Conclusion

The document establishes that mantra practice is a complete yogic and scientific method for awakening latent spiritual energies, with implications extending from personal transformation to cosmic power. Outcomes include the activation of subtle body centers, attainment of siddhis (spiritual powers), and liberation from the cycle of existence. The text emphasizes that mantra sadhana yields both material benefits—such as wealth, health, protection from enemies, and longevity—and spiritual fruits like fearlessness, peace, and self-realization. However, success requires strict adherence to purity in conduct, diet, and pronunciation, along with unwavering faith and proper guidance from a guru. The Namokar Mahamantra is highlighted as supremely accessible and effective for all times, capable of destroying karmic bonds and leading to ultimate liberation.
