Summary

The text discusses the concept of liberation (mukti) and the state of the liberated soul (muktatma). It clarifies that liberation is not a state of emptiness of the soul, but rather an entry into supreme bliss that has no end. While liberation involves separation from worldly attachments, it does not mean the cessation of existence. The liberated soul, being free from emotional impulses, becomes devoid of agitation and has no personal interest in the lives of other beings, though it may still assist them. The muktatma is described as being without physical attributes such as length, color, taste, or temperature. It is beyond the cycle of birth and rebirth; it sees and knows but has no attachment to anything. Even its form is without shape, and it is completely free from causality. The state of perfection (siddha avastha) has neither cause nor effect in the chain of honor; it is entirely free. The liberated soul has no involvement in the chain of cause and effect. The text notes that while complete faith, knowledge, and freedom from desire are causes for liberation, ultimately it is the individual human soul itself that is free and is the cause of its own liberation. Nothing definite can be said about the liberated soul, nor is it known if there are many such souls. The state of fulfillment can be described as a state free from action and desire, one of absolute and supreme stillness—a perfect rest with no change and no end, a state of grace-less and indescribable peace. This is attributed to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.

Conclusion

The document presents liberation (mukti) not as a void or cessation of being, but as an entry into a state of supreme bliss without boundaries. The liberated soul, free from emotional impulses and selfish interests, exists beyond all physical attributes—neither long nor short, hot nor cold. This state is described as causeless and effectless, a condition of absolute stillness beyond the chains of karma and desire. The implications are profound: liberation is not an escape from existence but a transformation into a mode of pure awareness and peace, where the soul is detached yet perceptive. The outcome is a complete cessation of rebirth and suffering, culminating in an indescribable tranquility that transcends all dualities and change.
