Summary
The Jain Vidya Sansthan, operating under the Digambar Jain Pratishta Kshetra Shri Mahavirji, organized two camps in June. The first was an eight-day Sadachar Shikshan (Moral Education) Camp held from June 14 to 21, aimed at strengthening ethical values among youth in the modern materialistic age. It was inaugurated by Dr. Jineshwardas Jain, Assistant Director at the Central Institute of Electrical and Electronics in Pilani. Twenty-eight youths from Jaipur, Kota, Muzaffarnagar, and Agra participated, including 16 newcomers. The curriculum included yogic exercises, practical knowledge of worship and rituals, study of Ratnakaranda Shravakachara and Bhaktamar Stotra, and explanations of pictorial carvings on the main temple's circumambulatory path using an overhead projector. Trainers were Jain scholars Shri Gyanchand Biltiwala and Shri Rajkumar Chhabra of Jaipur, Dr. Kusum Shah of Jaipur, and yoga instructor Dr. Ishwarchandra Sharma of Shri Mahavirji. The second was a ten-day Apabhramsha Language Training Camp, continuing from the previous year, for deeper training in Apabhramsha grammar and manuscript editing. It was inaugurated by renowned Hindi scholar Dr. Ramgopal Sharma "Dinesh," Professor and Dean of Hindi at Sukhadia University, Udaipur. Dr. Rajaram Jain, a noted Apabhramsha scholar, was also present. Training in manuscript editing was provided by Dr. Chhotelal Sharma of Banasthali Vidyapith, and in Apabhramsha grammar by Dr. Kamalchand Sogani of Sukhadia University. Participants, all holding postgraduate degrees and some with PhDs, practiced manuscript editing and grammatical analysis. Trainers highlighted the cultural values and literary beauty in Apabhramsha literature. These two camps, held in June at Shri Mahavirji, demonstrate a focused effort to address both moral and scholarly needs within the Jain community. The Sadachar Shikshan Camp successfully instilled ethical values and practical knowledge in 28 young participants, promoting their physical, mental, and moral development through yoga, worship, and scripture study. Simultaneously, the Apabhramsha language training camp advanced the specialized skills of postgraduate and doctoral-level scholars in manuscript editing and grammatical analysis, while also highlighting the cultural and literary significance of Apabhramsha texts. The participation of eminent scholars and the full sponsorship by the managing committee underscore the institutional commitment to these initiatives.
