संवर भावना

Vol. 08 · No. 0March - 1988pp. 84Hindi

Summary

The text presents a series of spiritual and ethical teachings focused on inner purification and the conquest of negative emotions. It describes how a steadfast individual who attains right faith (samyaktva) is able to restrain and overcome a wicked, false perspective. One who acts with pure forgiveness eliminates the pillar of pride decisively. A great person who maintains a state of sincerity and straightforwardness destroys the poison of deceit. Someone who feels no attachment to the beautiful physical body certainly causes the lion of greed to slip away. By remembering the Dharma with a peaceful mind, one subdues the spider-like mind. Through pure devotion and worship of the Vitaraga (the passionless one), one instantly destroys evil attachment. The text concludes that one who practices Dharma in all ways, purifies their inner feelings, and engages in the discipline of yoga and meditation, ultimately attains omniscience (kevala jnana). The teachings emphasize the transformation of the mind and the elimination of vices such as anger, pride, deceit, greed, and attachment through specific virtuous practices, leading to spiritual liberation and supreme knowledge.

Conclusion

The text emphasizes that cultivating a calm and steadfast mind leads to the suppression of false views, while practicing pure forgiveness eliminates pride. By maintaining sincerity and abandoning deceit, one overcomes attachment and greed. Remembering the Dharma with a peaceful heart subdues the restless mind, and worshiping the enlightened with pure intent destroys negative emotions. Ultimately, those who follow righteous conduct, purify their intentions, and engage in meditative focus attain supreme knowledge. The implications are that disciplined mental and ethical practices directly lead to spiritual liberation and the eradication of inner flaws.
