Summary
The text discusses the concept of development or evolution (विकास) as a fundamental principle that operates not only in the material or physical realm but also in the mental and spiritual spheres. It states that this element of development can be fully attained in mental and spiritual vision as well. When God bestows knowledge, inspiration, or reveals righteous truth to humans, this principle of evolution is also present. The text notes that in the dispensation of religion, evolution occurs from time to time. In understanding religious teachings, human power gradually evolves. It is with reference to this evolution that the Lord has been given the name 'Time' (काल). Lord Time, through his power Kali, drives the wheel of creation. Terms like growth, development, maturity, and transformation are all indicative of time. What Lord Time does is what modern scientific thinkers call evolution. Ancient thinkers called it the principle of time, encompassing origin, change, destruction, re-origin, and new life. In this sense, the meaning of time is ever-new. Lord Time ages old clothes, discards them, and through discarding, creates new life. Time does not stop the flow of the eternal. The eternal is that which always flows fresh and is updated. This ever-new, updated principle is called Sanatana. The ancient name for Sanatana is Sanatan.
Conclusion
The document emphasizes that the principle of development is not limited to material or physical growth but extends fully into mental and spiritual realms. It asserts that divine knowledge, inspiration, and the revelation of dharma all embody this developmental essence. The text identifies God as "Kala" (Time), who drives cosmic evolution through the power of Kali, governing creation, preservation, destruction, and renewal. This cyclical process—birth, decay, dissolution, and rebirth—is described as the continuous unfolding of the eternal. The author concludes that true sanatana (eternal) is not static but perpetually fresh and updated, representing a dynamic, ever-renewing principle. The implication is that spiritual and cosmic development is an ongoing, transformative journey, where renewal and adaptation are inherent to the eternal truth.
