The 88th annual session of the Shwetambar Terapanthi Mahasabha was held on February 18, 2002, in Pachpadra, coinciding with the Maryada Mahotsav. This session was particularly significant as it included elections for new office bearers, held every two years. General Secretary Bhanwarlal Singhvi presented the annual report, highlighting the Mahasabha’s role as the backbone of the Terapanth community over 88 years. He expressed gratitude to Acharya Shri Mahapragyaji, Yuvacharya Shri Mahashramanji, Sadhvi Pramukha Shri Kanakprabhaji, and other monastic guides. The report honored the memory of Sadhvi Kamluji, who passed away after a 20-day Santhara, and paid tribute to former president Shri Chandji Rampuria and other deceased senior community members. It noted that 334 Terapanthi Sabhas across India and abroad were now affiliated, with unaffiliated institutions warned they would not receive federal recognition. The Mahasabha had 2,604 life members, and a survey questionnaire was sent to local sabhas to assess activities and regional issues. A delegation led by President Bhanwarlal Daga toured Tamil Nadu in two phases, visiting 32 areas. The monthly magazine Jain Bharati’s circulation reached 5,900. There were 158 registered Gyanashalas, with 18 in the registration process and 20 new areas being contacted. A new ‘Upasak Mandal’ category was introduced, and a nine-day training camp in Bidasar drew 80 participants from 12 states. Fifty-seven Upasaks visited 25 locations in India and abroad. The Mahasabha published four important books, including Upasana Part 1 and 2, Terapanth Ka Itihas Volume 2, and Terapanth Darshan. The central office in Kolkata was renovated.
